The Watoto Children’s Choir from Uganda presented “Beautiful Africa” at FA on March 6, 2013. Their choirs have travelled internationally since 1994 as advocates for the estimated 50 million children in Africa, orphaned as a result of HIV/AIDS, war, poverty and disease. Each of the children in the choir has suffered the loss of their parents either through war or disease and now live in Watoto children’s villages. They explained that the villages are designed to rescue, raise, and rebuild.
Accompanied by a team of adults, the choir presents Watoto’s vision and mission through their stories, music and dance. As ambassadors for Africa and God’s Kingdom, their mission is to raise awareness about the plight of orphaned and vulnerable children, while sharing the saving Grace of Jesus.
Their audiences have included princes and paupers, warming many hearts throughout Uganda, Kenya, South Africa, Australasia, Canada, UK, Germany, France, USA, South America, Hong Kong, China and Japan.
The Watoto message of hope was delivered with confidence and boldness and helped our students rise up out of their own situations.
